The Blog

Lily and Seth had the coolest wedding. They got married at the a local arts center that has a great vibe and a beautiful brick exterior. This venue was a sentimental one, as this was the place that they first met! Their wedding was colorful and sweet and completely represented their personalities. When we first met, we bonded over our shared love of tacos and beer and I am happy to report that both were in extreme abundance at their celebration. They had a live band that had the whole crowd dancing well into the evening – live bands really add so much energy to the party.  So many local favorites their vendors to make their celebration really a blast. First, there was Fork Catering who had their lovely truck serving tacos, salads, and so much yummy food.  Then Criminal Baking provided seven (yes, 7!) cakes and pies for refreshments. (man, it was hard to choose my favorite) Flowers were provided by the ever amazing California Sister. I just love that cockscomb and those dahlias – the colors and texture of the bouquet were simply stunning. Lastly, Sarah at Warner’s Whole Heart Events made sure the day went off without a hitch. Thank you, my friends, for including me in your special day.

Wedding season is wrapping up and now I’m neck deep in family portraits! I still have a few spots open, so contact me if you’ve put it off. (Don’t worry, I’ve put my own of for… three years? eep!) So anyhow, gimme a call let’s make some beautiful portraits.

I can’t really find the words to full describe this wedding. Or rather, this couple. They are both such stellar and beautiful people – inside and out. They are kind and funny and hard-working… and have amazing taste. Their sweet ceremony was held under the redwoods and included lots of laughter, tears, and tattoos. Nate is a tattoo artist and two of his coworkers gave the happy couple matching tattoos as part of their ceremony. I would expect nothing less from this couple! Gina is an amazing jewelry artist and created her squash blossom, necklaces for her bridesmaids, bolo ties for the groomsmen and even crafted their rings! At the reception the community amazingness continued with friends and family bringing the most amazing display of food to share. I was a little nervous hearing “potluck” and “wedding” together in the same sentence, but this turned out incredible. People were sharing recipes, swapping stories and marveling over the spread. The band members are also friends of the couple and treated everyone to a great time.  Nichole of California Sister made the flowers, again knocking it way out of the park. And can we just for one second mention how gorgeous this couple is? Lookers, the both of ’em.

Ohhhh this wedding! So colorful, so filled with joy and meaning! Neeru and Jay chose Dawn Ranch Lodge near the Russian River for their two-day celebration, bringing in their friends and family from across the country and the globe. Every aspect of the day was infused with tradition, from the gorgeous jewelry and clothing to the dancing, singing and food. Working alongside was Wendi of Swoon Films who captured the day in a wonderful short film. I loved seeing the way she told the story of their day and how our images complimented each other!

This was one of my top weddings this year – Everyone had such a good time and there were smiles, tears, stories, jokes, kids running around, music dancing through the redwoods, and laughter and happiness filling my ears and heart as I worked the night away. Many blessings to your and your family. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your very special day. My apologies for the image overload, but one you start looking, you’ll see why it was hard to keep it to a minimum.

Jack and Ruth had an at-home wedding that proved true love is something worth waiting for. These two sweethearts decked out their gorgeous backyard in the most luscious colors. I’ve never seen chairs covered in ribbons like this – what a cool idea! Unfortunately, this wedding happened a mere 5 days after I fell down the stairs (or fell down A stair), and suffered a horrible sprain. Thankfully, my couple was wonderfully understanding and I hobbled around doing my darndest while my wonderful friend and colleague Melanie of MLU Photography picked up my slack. Many of the photos shown below are hers and I highly suggest you check her out. Anyways, back to the wedding. I was so happy to watch this couple celebrate their love surrounded by their friends and family. Congratulations and may you have many more years of love and laughter!
